Neglect, new beginnings, and working on ourselves

Since I got involved in property development this blog has been somewhat neglected, partly because I was no longer directly involved in education which stimulated a lot of the ideas, and partly because I was occupied with prosaic matters such as where to buy magnolia paint and how to make sure my flat conversions passed their acoustic tests.

But even in being a property developer and landlord, there are times for a little reflection. My intention is to use this weblog as a place to jot down things I am learning about being in business, and the property business in particular. At the moment I am learning a lot about social media (facebook, linkedIn, twitter etc). But the greatest learning since I started has been in the area of self development. As pointed out by Michael Gerber in the E-Myth (about being an entrepreneur) the temptation for those of us that have started our own businesses is to be consumed by working in the business, spending less and less time working on the business and almost certainly neglecting working on ourselves.
